Lucy was born to a single mother who had been abused and neglected for most of her own childhood. Right from the beginning Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope, but it wasn’t until Lucy reached eight years old that she was finally taken into permanent foster care.
By the time Lucy is brought to live with Cathy she is eleven years old and severely distressed after being moved from one foster home to another. Withdrawn, refusing to eat and three years behind in her schooling, it is thought that the damage Lucy has suffered is irreversible.

Why 3 parts?

Very much a good story but didn't like having to buy it in 3 parts; only later discovered I could've bought it as 1 book.

enjoyable

Cathy ( the author ) has written many books of children she has fostered. From babies to older children. She is share with the public her experiences with this passion of hers. I so admire her as I could not do it but it is great to support her by reading her books. This little girl had been abused all her life and she comes to Cathy when she was 11 it is great to share this experience with her readers. Some times it is hard to read what some children experiences.
