Der Mangel an Fach- und Führungskräften in Deutschland ist ein anhaltender Trend. Zusätzlich wächst der Bedarf an qualifizierten Mitarbeitern - vor allem an Professionals und Young Professionals -, wodurch die Unternehmen gezwungen werden, internationales Recruiting im Kampf um die High Potencials zu erwägen.
Immer mehr internationale Bewerber stehen zur Verfügung, was auf die Transparenz des Arbeitsmarktes durch die Globalisierung zurück zu führen ist. Ebenso hat der Wertewandel in unserer Gesellschaft Auswirkungen auf den Arbeitsmarkt; eine Folge hiervon ist z.B. die wachsende Fluktuation. Das kommt daher, dass aus den Arbeitsverträgen auf Lebenszeit so genannte Lebensabschnittsjobs werden und rund die Hälfte aller Fachkräfte ständig passiv auf Jobsuche ist.
Seit Mitte der 90er Jahre ist das Massenmedium Internet aus dem Alltag und dem Arbeitsleben kaum wegzudenken. Als Rekrutierungskanal gewinnt es Jahr für Jahr an Bedeutung. Gründe hierfür sind die Effizienzsteigerung innerhalb der Personalbeschaffung - z.B. durch Schaffung von Datenbanken und IT-Lösungen -, die enorme Reichweite des Mediums, die Schaffung von nahezu kompletter Transparenz, die zeitliche und örtliche Uneingeschränktheit und die hohe Akzeptanz dieses Mediums in der Gesellschaft.
Im Folgenden wird auf die Grundlagen, die Instrumente des E-Recruiting und auf den ganzheitlichen Prozess des E-Recruiting eingegangen.
