Oftmals werden Bildungsinhalte in einen gesellschaftlichen Kontext gerückt, so dass diese wiederum zunächst zur Erziehung werden. Bildung ist demnach eine spezielle Erziehung bestimmter Fähigkeiten.
Ziel der Erziehung ist es, Menschen ihren Platz in einer Gesellschaft zuzuweisen. Es gibt drei Arten von Erziehung, die Erziehung des Körpers, des Verstandes und der Seele. Im Islam ist die Bildung eine allgemein menschliche Erziehung, der Koran und die Aussprüche des Propheten Muhammad, die Gebote und Verbote, dienen als Maßstab der Erziehung. Entscheidungsfreiheit und Verwirklichungsfreiheit gehören zu den wesentlichen Erziehungsfaktoren des Islam. Das Erziehungs- und Bildungssystem eines Landes ist maßgebend als direkte Grundlage für den Aufbau der kommenden Generationen. Diese Arbeit führt die historische Entwicklung der Erziehung und Bildung in Iran unter Berücksichtigung lediglich für die Erziehung und Bildung relevanten politischen, wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Ereignisse seit dem 19.Jahhundert auf.
