Diese Vorstellung gab es jedoch nicht immer. Das Judentum existierte bekanntermaßen vor dem Christentum und vor dem Islam. In der Antike existierten nach jüdischer Vorstellung mehrere Götter nebeneinander, die oft an Ort und Volk gebunden waren. Die Götter von anderen Völkern wurden
für wirklich gehalten und man ließ diese anderen Völker in ihrem Glauben gewähren, solange sie die Juden in ihrem Glauben an den EINEN Gott ebenfalls gewähren ließen. Es bestand sozusagen eine gegenseitige Akzeptanz der verschiedenen Glaubensrichtungen. Man hielt die Vorstellung, dass jedes Volk seinen eigenen Gott oder seine eigenen Götter hat für richtig.
Auch heute noch existieren Religionen und Glaubensrichtungen, die mehrere Gottheiten oder „Götterhierarchien“ mit Göttern und Halbgöttern haben, wie zum Beispiel der Hinduismus oder der Buddhismus.
In der vorliegenden Arbeit möchte ich mich damit beschäftigen, wie es zu diesem Bruch von der Akzeptanz anderer Götter zu einer rigorosen Ablehnung jeglicher Existenz anderer Götter als dem EINEN Gott gekommen ist.
