Lewis Turco's "Fearful Pleasures" and "The Inhabitant"

Conrad Aiken, one of America's most gifted poets and a former Librarian of Congress, said that Lewis Turco's "The Inhabitant" was the best poem he'd read in around thirty years. While "The Inhabitant" is no longer available as a separate book, it is fully contained in "Fearful Pleasures." And there is a lot more to like besides, making the larger collection a great value.
Other highlights for me were Turco's trilogy for J.F.K. and a number of his formal rhyming poems. All the writing is good, but it is the exceptional heights that set this book apart and make it a classic. My recommendation is to read "The Inhabitant" first, then the other poems as the reader has the time.
